The Today Show’s Spring Transformation
Spring has officially arrived, and with it comes one of the most beloved traditions on the Today Show—the unveiling of the seasonal backdrop. On March 20, the morning show team celebrated the occasion with great enthusiasm. Al Roker, joined by Craig Melvin and Laura Jarvis, took center stage to introduce the much-anticipated reveal.

“Happy spring! The new season has arrived, and that means it’s time for our annual tradition where we bring the spring into Studio 1A. Change the big wall!” Al Roker declared with excitement. However, the reveal did not go exactly as planned. As the countdown began—”Three, two, one, bam!”—the backdrop changed a bit too soon, leading to laughter among the anchors. Al playfully acknowledged the mishap, calling it “a little anticlimactic.” The team gave it another try, making the second attempt a perfect execution. “That’s live TV!” they joked, embracing the spontaneity of the moment.
Dylan Dreyer’s Exciting Assignment in France
While some familiar faces were present in the studio, Dylan Dreyer was notably absent from the festivities. The meteorologist has been on assignment in France, covering the final stages of the MSC World America cruise ship’s construction. She has been traveling from Paris to Saint-Nazaire, documenting the process for an upcoming special episode airing on April 9.

Dylan has been keeping fans updated via social media, sharing snapshots of her journey. One of her latest posts featured her standing outside the massive cruise liner, captioned: “Coat or no coat? The important decisions this morning live from Saint Nazaire, France aboard the brand-new @msccruisesofficial World America as they complete the finishing touches! @todayshow will be live from Miami ahead of her maiden voyage on April 9! Let the fun continue!!”

Despite being on a work trip, Dylan has made time to indulge in French delicacies. She posted an image of herself enjoying French pastries, playfully noting that she was brainstorming a gluten-free version for her son, Calvin, who has celiac disease. “I’ve been eating these delicious little French pastries like candy! I’m determined to make a gluten-free version when I’m back home. Next Cooking with Cal???” she wrote.
Dylan’s enthusiasm for her assignment is evident. She even admitted at the beginning of the week that she didn’t hesitate to accept the opportunity, excited for the adventure ahead.
Sheinelle Jones’ Extended Absence
Another notable absence from the Today Show has been Sheinelle Jones, who has not appeared on the program for several months. On January 15, Savannah Guthrie addressed Sheinelle’s time away, explaining that the co-host was taking a break to handle a personal family health matter.

Savannah shared a message from Sheinelle, saying, “We want to share some news about our friend Sheinelle. She posted to Instagram this morning, letting everyone know she has been taking some time off to deal with a personal family health matter. She thanked everyone for their kindness and concern.”
Sheinelle herself took to Instagram to express gratitude for the outpouring of support from fans. “Hi everybody… I sincerely appreciate all of you who have reached out while I’ve been absent from the show. I want to share with you that I’m taking time to deal with a family health matter. It’s not lost on me how lucky I am to have not only the support of my Today Show family but to also have all of you. Your kindness means so much to me. I’ll see you soon. Love, Sheinelle.”
Fans continue to send well wishes, hoping for her return to the show soon.
